You’ve Got an Offer…What’s Next as an International Student?
Offer Holder Timeline
Next Steps to Take
- Firstly, congratulations on your offer to study at Dublin City University.
- Carefully review the offer letter and decide whether to accept or decline the offer by the deadline specified in the letter.
- You must accept your offer online through the Student Application Portal.
- To accept the offer, you would be required to pay a Non-Refundable deposit of €500. The only two instances where this is refundable is if your visa is refused or if you do not need to pay conditions of your offer. Please pay this deposit using the link in your offer letter. This €500 goes towards your final tuition fee. Paying this deposit shows you are serious about DCU and it is a way to confirm your place on the programme.
- If your offer has expired, depending on your programme of choice, you might be able to request a deadline extension by emailing: internationaladmissions@dcu.ie
- It is advisable that you start your search for accommodation as early as possible.
- You can apply for DCU accommodations on DCU’s Accommodation Portal.
- You can also opt for accommodations off campus on Student Pad or Daft.ie
- Be sure to check out past webinars focused on accommodation: A guide to DCU Accommodation and A Guide to Off-Campus Accommodation.
- Also check out DCU Student Life for accommodation support.
- International students may pay their fees in two installments - so you must pay at least 60% of your total fees prior to registration. And if you opt to pay in two installments, you would be required to pay the other 40% by January.
- The best way to make a fee payment is via transfermate but you can find more information on our fees portal. There will also be information on how to make your fee payment in your offer letter as well.
- Please note we do not issue fee receipts, that’s why we recommend you make your payment through transfermate as they automatically issue a receipt to you. You can use that receipt when applying for a visa. On our end, we send a spreadsheet of students who have paid tuition fees to the immigration office - so they will be able to cross check and see how much you have paid.
- Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to live and study in Ireland.
- All information on Visa and Immigration information can be found here.
- There’s also a Visa and Immigration Information Webinar where one of our Regional Advisors talks you through the steps of applying for a Visa and all required documents you will need.
- The next step is to register as a student online. Please note that if you need a visa to come to Ireland, you must wait for your visa to be approved, before registering as a student.
- Also, be sure to check out the webinar on registrations for more information.
- You should plan your travel to Ireland, including booking your flights and arranging transportation from the airport to your accommodation.
- Research the city of Dublin: familiarise yourself with the culture, lifestyle and attractions.
- Explore DCU’s campus and facilities: visit the university’s website and take a virtual tour.
- Connect with student ambassadors on our Unibuddy platform or reach out to alumni for insights and advice.
- Also consider joining the Goin’ App to connect with other students before stepping foot on campus. Goin’ is an exclusive DCU app for international offer holders and incoming students. It gives you the opportunity to meet peers and prepare and plan your arrival to DCU. There’s group chats based on interests, hobbies, nationality and programmes. The link to register will be shared with you shortly after you receive your offer.
- Dcu Offers an orientation program for new international students.
- This would be a great opportunity to meet other students, learn about the university and get advice on settling into life in Ireland.
- Please visit the International Student Support Page to get more details.
- If you are a student from outside the EU, EEA, Switzerland or the UK and plan to come to Ireland to study for more than 90 days, you must register your immigration permission with your local immigration office.
- Information on booking an appointment can be found on our Visa and Immigration page.
