Professor Gary Murphy

Gary Murphy is Associate Professor of Government and Head of the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University.  Originally educated by the Christian Brothers in Cork city he later studied at UCC. He has worked in DCU since 1995 and was appointed the University's first Dean of Graduate Studies in 2007.

He has published extensively on the politics of modern Ireland and is widely regarded as one of Ireland's leading political scientists. He appears regularly in the Irish print and broadcast media. He was President of the Political Studies Association of Ireland from 2009 to 2012 and is a former editor of Irish Political Studies. In 2011-12 he was visiting Fulbright Professor of Politics in the Center for European Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. 

He is a professorial member of the Governing Authority having been elected to the Authority by his peers in 2011.
