DCU Elevate

DCU Elevate is designed as a flexible career development framework tailored for all DCU research students. You can engage with the programme at different stages of your research journey, selecting specific courses from three interconnected spokes based on your current needs and your long-term career goals. Please see the Graduate Studies Training and Workshops page as to when you should consider engaging with workshops relevant to you.

Sessions and workshops offered on DCU Elevate will be advertised directly to students by the DCU Graduate Studies Office via your DCU email address and on our Training and Workshop page.

DCU Elevate modules will be clearly marked as being part of the DCU Elevate programme. To find DCU Elevate sessions, look for the E icon next to the session title.

How to Track Your Progress

We recommend that students availing of DCU Elevate should track all transversal skills on the MySkills Platform OR create a simple cloud-based folder such as 'Google Drive ', titled 'DCU Elevate Progress'.  The purpose of tracking your progress is so that you have a concrete learning record that you can then use in your CV or for interviews.

Within this folder, they should maintain three primary files to track their journey through the three spokes:

1. Transversal Skills

2. Career Readiness

3. Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship

Video Log

Video Log - Using a smartphone or laptop camera, a student could record a 60-second clip reflecting on their main takeaways from the training session and how they will apply risk management to their research project and beyond.

Document Diary

Document Diary - A Word or Google document can serve as a learning journal. At the start of each year, students can note which "interconnected spokes" they plan to engage with. Following a workshop like "Industry vs Academic CVs," they can copy and paste their initial thoughts or feedback directly into this document. This creates a "holistic career development journey" that they can review during their final year and use for CVs and interviews.
