Megan Griffiths, DCU Institute of Education PhD Student, Represents DCU at the National Three Minute Thesis Competition
Megan Griffiths, a PhD student from Dublin City University’s Institute of Education and Centre for Talented Youth Ireland (CTYI), is making waves in the world of educational research by representing DCU at the prestigious Irish University Association (IUA), National Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
Specialising in Inclusive and Gifted Education, Megan’s research focuses on improving science education for gifted students in Ireland. Her project, titled, “Best practices in science education for gifted students: Developing resources, worked examples and guidelines for Irish science teachers”, aims to bridge the gap between curriculum delivery and the unique needs of gifted learners.
The journey to the national stage began with a win in DCU’s Graduate Studies Office internal “Tell it Straight” competition, where Megan impressed judges with a compelling and concise presentation of her research. After the 3MT competition concluded, Megan noted:
‘As someone who is passionate about sharing knowledge and the importance of both communicating knowledge and making it accessible, being given an opportunity to tell the story of my research on the national stage is just incredible. The competition has challenged me to think about how I share my research, learning to communicate with clarity and purpose, which has been extremely rewarding.’
Recent presentations at the European Centre for High Ability conference in Thessaloniki, participation in the Tell it Straight Competition organised by the Graduate Studies Office and the National Thesis in Three Event have all presented Megan with a great opportunity to share her research on multiple platforms.
We are excited to see what Megan will do next. To read more about this great event you can do so on the IUA 3MT web page.
