Inaugural Age Friendly Universities Conference: Engaging Ageing

Call for Papers 'Engaging Ageing', Dublin City University, November 2nd and 3rd , 2015

Dublin City University became the first third-level institution to adopt the concept and principles of an Age-Friendly University in 2012 and has committed to lead and highlight the role that universities can play in responding to challenges and opportunities associated with the ageing demographic of the 21st century. In collaboration with our international partners, Arizona State University and Strathclyde University we are hosting the first international age friendly universities conference on November 2nd and 3rd 2015.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jane Barratt, Secretary General of the International Federation on Ageing will give the keynote address at the conference.

Key Themes: We anticipate that this conference will promote and develop the concept of the Age Friendly University, particularly in the following areas:

  • Research and innovation;
  • Education and outreach;
  • Learner and community involvement;
  • Work and Enterprise.

We now invite proposals for papers to be presented during this conference. These papers should be linked with the major themes of the conference however, proposal ideas that extend beyond these thematic areas will also be considered. We will also consider proposals for, workshops/interactive sessions, and posters/exhibits. Proposals from academics, policy makers, non-governmental organisations and civic society are most welcome.
