Economic and Social History Society of Ireland – 52nd Annual Conference (2025)

The School of History & Geography is delighted to host the 52nd Annual Conference of the Economic and Social History Society of Ireland (ESHSI), taking place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th December at DCU St Patrick’s Campus. The conference brings together scholars exploring Ireland’s economic and social past across diverse periods, themes, and methodological traditions.

This year’s programme features five multi-panel sessions including topics such as poverty, print media and film, 18th century economic life, urban and rural improvement, society and economy in the Irish Free State, women’s history, migration and identity, sport and social class, security and policing in Northern Ireland, medieval trade, social welfare, and business history. The conference will also include the K. H. Connell Memorial Lecture, delivered on Friday afternoon by Professor Enda Delaney, University of Edinburgh, followed by a wine reception.
