Book of essays edited by Patrick Wadden Launched

Thursday, 30 April, saw the launch of Propaganda and History in the Medieval Celtic Lands: Interrogating a Paradigm, edited by Ben Guy (University of Cambridge) and Patrick Wadden (DCU School of History and Geography). The event was hosted by School of Celtic Studies at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.

Those in attendance heard Professor Máire Ní Mhaoanaigh (University of Cambridge) launch a volume of essays that offers the first thoroughgoing analysis of the propaganda paradigm as it has been applied to medieval texts written in Irish, Welsh, and Latin across the Celtic-speaking countries. It presents theoretical reflections as well as key case studies, covering material from the early to the late Middle Ages. It will sharpen our methodological awareness of a paradigm that has become foundational for the study of medieval texts and their roles in society, both in Celtic-speaking countries and beyond.
