DCU IRGS to host second annual writing retreat at Notre Dame Kylemore
The Institute for Research on Genders and Sexualities and Notre Dame Kylemore are delighted to host the second annual IRGS Feminist Writing Retreat at Notre Dame Kylemore, Kylemore Abbey, Co Galway, 21-25 Feb 2026.
Fees: Total €1000
€200 to be paid in advance to book your place, and €800 before the commencement of the retreat.
Grants:
We have two grants specifically for early career researchers - either PhDs or those who have finished their PhDs within the past five years.
To apply for those, please write to Dr Arpita Chakraborty, Vice-Director, IRGS arpita.chakraborty@dcu.ie with a 300 word application on why you think you are a suitable candidate for the grant, and what project you would like to pursue during your time at the retreat. Last date of application for the grants is 30 November 2025.
Preference will be given to applicants with caring responsibilities, or from marginalized and racialized groups in Ireland.
Tentative schedule:
21 Feb: Arrival at the abbey
22 Feb: Personal writing sessions. Afternoon walk around the abbey forest area.
23 Feb: Personal writing sessions. Guided visit inside the Abbey.
24 Feb: Personal writing sessions. Evening reading session.
25 Feb: Departure post breakfast
