Fiontar agus Scoil na Gaeilge receive funding from Royal Irish Academy

Pádraig Ó Liatháin, from Fiontar agus Scoil na Gaeilge has been awarded funding by the Royal Irish Academy (by the committee Coiste Léann na Gaeilge) to publish Volume 2 of Seán Ó Ríordáin's diaries.

Ó Ríordáin was a tuberculosis (T.B.) sufferer who painstakingly recorded his sickness and the social stigma attached to it, he also discusses in his diaries (1940-77), among other things, matters of European literature and history, contemporary Irish and global politics (WWII in particular), local drama, both official languages of Ireland, his relatives, his birthplace, Baile Bhuirne, and his place of residence, Iniscara.

Volume 1 has already been submitted for publication and is due out shortly from Cló Iar-Chonnacht.
