Action Research Digital Collaboratory

Through our Action Research Digital Collaboratory we are creating conditions that support practitioner-researchers in making connections between professional work, digital technologies, creativity, leadership and wider society. We are supporting practitioners in making their own unique contribution to the creation of knowledge by developing greater self-awareness, participating in decision-making processes in collaboration with others, and designing pedagogical and technological innovations that have the potential to transform their life and the lives of others. 

Members come from a wide range of contexts and practices. 

  • Higher education and Research Centres, Post-primary education, Primary education, Adult and Further education, Health Services, Industry and Technology Providers, Creative arts, Sports Organisations, Government departments, NGO's, Financial Institutions, State Agencies.

Digital technologies are used to bring together professionals from diverse backgrounds, cultures and organisations and it creates a platform for practitioners to research their practice with others. In this new approach to action research we encourage practitioners to become more educationally entrepreneurial (Crotty, 2012) by taking risks, awakening their creativity and bringing new ideas into action. The idea of pedagogy of the unique (Farren, 2005) expresses the belief that each person has a distinctive constellation of values that motivate their enquiry and sets a distinctive context for that enquiry to proceed. The web of betweenness (O'Donoghue, 2003; Farren, 2006) is inextricably linked with the idea of pedagogy of the unique as it is intended to be creatively and critically responsive to each person while emphasising the relational dynamic element of pedagogy.
