Dr. Senan Cooke (Communities Creating Jobs)
My research interest is in social innovation and social and private enterprise. The mission of the Centre is operating in an area of strong interest to me in that it reaches out to society with expertise and programmes of great benefit to regional and national economies. It also provides access to a range of technology based enabling tools that facilitate life-long learning for the workplace. I am a lecturer in the School of Education Studies and lecture on the Professional Doctorate in Education. I have supervised 6 doctoral students.I teach applied environmental and organisational change, leadership and management, workplace and community based learning. Dunhill Education Centre.
Dr. Yvonne Emmett
I am currently a Higher Executive Officer in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners with experience across the organisational domains of information and communications technology (ICT), training and development, and corporate governance (internal audit). I have been involved with the Centre for many years through my Masters and doctoral research. My research focused on the epistemology of professional development, explored in the interplay between higher education studies and workplace practice through an action research methodology that has addressed: the educational possibilities that digital technologies open up for workplace learning in the civil service; the challenge that their use can present for training personnel; and the professional development needs arising from this disruption to established thinking and practice.
Dr. Vincent English (Vernier Europe)
I am the Managing Director at Vernier Europe Ltd. I am a partner in the European Inspiring Science Education project and working in collaboration with the Centre in bringing e-Tools and resources to improve learning.
Carmel Finlay (Teagasc)
I am the eLearning Support & Development officer at Teagasc e-College. I completed my Masters in Education and Training Management (eLearning) degree in 2006. I collaborate with the Centre in matters relating to the development and implementation of online learning in Teagasc.
Paul Kelly (Ireland's Online Secondary School)
I am the Director of HomeSchool.ie, Ireland's online Secondary school. We have developed an online teaching platform to connect students to teachers across Ireland. I completed the Masters in Education and Training Management (eLearning) in 2013 and during my time on the programme I was impressed by the use of technology to support student learning. I continue to collaborate with the Centre as we share good practices in the use of technology for learning.
Tom Kinney (Invest NI)
Having gained a wealth of direct experience in many international markets I now provide advice, direction and leadership to individual SMEs on new project devleopment, strategy and international marketing. I studied at the Univeristy of Ulster in Belfast and Northwestern University in Illinois and the Digital Marketing Institute in Dublin. As a senior advisor within Invest NI, my preferred role is at the coal face, directly helping drive Northern Ireland's export performance. I have guest lectured on Masters programmes at Queens University, Belfast and the University of Ulster. I keep abreast of what it takes to start and drive a new business in today's fast paced technological world.
Dr. Ray O'Neill
I am the ICT Business Manager for Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) a state agency established in 2012. QQI's functions include those previously carried out by the Further Education and Training Awards Council; the Higher Education and Training Awards Council; the Irish Universities Quality Board and the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI). I undertook my PhD ‘ICT as Political Action’ when working as a post-primary teacher.
Martin Owen (Technology Innovator)
I am a developer, conceptualist and speaker on the innovative use of ICT. I have 30 years experience as an academic in teacher professional development, particularly Science education. As Director of Futurelab UK, I led the development of games such as Racing Academy, Savannah and Space Missions in collaboration with national and international science media and educational bodies. I am an Apple Distinguished Educator.
Darragh Power (SAP)
I am a Global Training and Enablement Specialist with SAP, a multinational software corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and custormer relations. I completed an MSc in Education and Training Management in DCU. I worked nationally and internationally in training and development, sustainability and in the third level sector, delivering program's involving ICT and learning, management and leadership, communication skills and sustainability. My research interests include, continuous professional development, the application of brain science in learning, collaboration and learning in the workplace.
William McTiernan (STEM)
I am the Irish Ambassador for Scientix which promotes STEM education across Europe. I was formely a teacher of Junior Science and Senior Biology at Grennan College, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, where I also held the position of ICT Coordinator. I also worked for a number of years on secondment as ICT advisor with Kilkenny Education Centre. I am currently working in the area of CPD for teachers with emphasis on the integration of ICT into teaching and learning and I have particular interest in the development of a computational approach to teaching and learning in Science.
Dr. Garret Ryan
I am a Senior Learning Consultant at IBM. I provide strategic direction to IBM inside Sales operations from an education and human capital management standpoint. I also provide learning and development consultancy at Global, European and country levels, ensuring the continuing professional development of staff in those geographies. Previously I worked as an Electrical / Electronic engineer for fifteen years working across a broad range of technologies and engineering operations in Ireland and overseas.
