Biographical Details

Dr Mairín Wilson is an Associate Professor in the School of Inclusive Education, DCU Faculty of Education.  She was previously a Lecturer in Education in the Church of Ireland College of Education.
Máirin works predominantly on the Graduate Diploma in Inclusive Education, Learning Support and Special Education.
Her teaching focus includes literacy, numeracy, teacher motivation, assessment for learning and active learning methodologies. Her research interests arise from these areas and her Master of Studies from Trinity College examined teacher drop-out in the area of support teaching. Her PhD, also from Trinity College, was a study of the active citizenship dimension of Civic, Social and Political Education.  
Máirín has co-authored a textbook for Junior Cycle Civic, Social and Political Education. She has been a keynote speaker at international conferences and is an active member on the Executive of a number of education-based organisations. She is currently the Hon President of the Literacy Association of Ireland and is the Hon Chairperson of the Irish Citizenship Education Network. She presents papers regularly at conferences and seminars.
