Biographical Details

Dr. Michael O'Keeffe is a lecturer in the School of Inclusive and Special Education, DCU St. Patrick's Campus. Prior to working in Higher Education Michael worked as a primary school teacher in a mainstream school, teaching mainstream classes and also as a resource teacher of children from the travelling community. Michael then transferred to a Special School and taught young people with Severe/Profound General Learning Disabilities and also students with Moderate General Learning Disabilities. 
Michael's areas of teaching interest include; visual impairment, general learning disability, Social, Personal and Health Education for young people with low incidence disability, music education and literacy.
Michael teaches on the following Courses: B. Ed., MSEN, Grad Dip Inclusive and Special Education and Induction for Teachers of Pupils with Severe/Profound General Learning Disability. 
Michael completed the Mandatory Qualification for Teachers of the Blind in Birmingham University. He is now a member of the Board of Directors of Child Vision, Grace Park Rd, Drumcondra, Dublin.
