To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Irish Times Women’s Podcast hosted a live recording at Chapters Bookstore in Dublin on Wednesday 4th March. During the event, Róisín Ingle was joined by IRGS Director Professor Debbie Ging, human rights lawyer Caoilfhionn Gallagher, and fifth-year student Orla Hanratty. Together, they examined how gender bias has been embedded in the technologies shaping modern society, and importantly, discussed possible solutions.

The panel highlighted various examples of how misogyny is reflected in emerging technologies, including deepfakes, nudification tools, and AI companions. They also considered strategies to address these issues, the progress already underway, and practical steps for creating safer and more equitable online spaces. The evening also featured a performance by singer Róisín O, who sang her new single Magic, a song dedicated to her mother, Mary Black.
