New Book by Dr Paola Rivetti

Paola Rivetti, Storia dell'Iran. Rivoluzione, guerra e resistenza 1979-2025, Laterza 2026.

In this book, Rivetti examines the evolving relation between social movements and the state in Iran since the 1979 revolution. While most analyses are pivoted on apical figures such as Khomeini, Khamenei or Ahmadinejad, Rivetti centres contentious politics and activist groups, including feminists, students, workers and minorities, to understand Iranian politics and history. The announcement of the book's publication has been covered by the Italian media industry extensively. Launched in early January 2026, the book got reprinted in mid-January.
