How to Access Your New DCU Apps Email Account

ISS are delighted to give you the opportunity to leave behind the old DCU email system and the various problems associated with it. Your new DCU Apps email system is now available. Please migrate at your own pace by following the instructions below. All staff will migrate to the new system over the course of Summer 2013.

NB - Availability of this migration process below:

Now available for email addresses: @dcu.ie, @materdei.dcu.ie, @invent.dcu.ie

Does not apply to email addresses: @computing.dcu.ie, @eeng.dcu.ie, @physics.dcu.ie

Not yet available for email addresses: @spd.dcu.ie (contact your local IT staff), @ryanacademy.dcu.ie, @thehelix.dcu.ie, @dcusu.ie, @clubsandsocs.dcu.ie

 

Video Instructions

    • 1. Enlarge the video to full screen while it is playing. Click on the 'full screen' icon in bottom right corner.

    • 2. Reduce video to normal size when finished watching. Click on the 'exit full screen' icon in bottom right corner.

    • 3. There is no sound in these videos. Press the 'pause' button in the bottom left corner at any stage to stop play so you can read the text instructions.

    • 4. You may watch the video again if you wish once it reaches the end. Simply press 'reload' in the bottom left corner.

Preparation Steps

  • Login to your DCU Apps account at least once to activate your account here: http://gcal.dcu.ie
  • You may skip this step if you have previously used the DCU Apps calendar or docs

 

 

Activating Your DCU Apps Account

  • Copy your local email to your DCU account (local folders in Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail etc)
  • Skip this step if you do not have local folders
  • This step allows us to automatically copy this email to the new system for you
  • This step will provide you with access to all your email from any device/location in the new system

  • Export your contacts from webmail and your mail client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail etc)
  • Please note that all DCU, MDI and SPD email contacts will be available be default in the new system

 

 

Exporting Contacts From Webmail and Clients

  • Take note of your settings in webmail (autoforwards, send copies, signature, out of office, filters)
  • Webmail settings and access are disabled after the migration begins
  • You must re-configure these settings in your new DCU Apps account
  • ISS do not recommend sending copies of your DCU email to external accounts

 

 

Take Note of Webmail Settings

  • Enter current email address (e.g. joe.bloggs@dcu.ie) and email password below to begin the migration process
  • Access to your new DCU Apps email will be enabled immediately
  • New email will then arrive in your new account only
  • Your current DCU webmail settings webmail login will be disabled immediately
  • Your old email will be copied to the new system automatically for you (can take 48 hours)
