Trilateral Research, with DCU support, offering a paid internship

Trilateral Research, with the support of DCU, are looking to offer a paid internship over seven (7) months which will also cover the part-time fees for first year of DCU’s new MA in Data Protection and Privacy Law. This is an interdisciplinary degree run jointly by DCU’s School of Law and Government and the School of Computing. The aim of the programme is  to provide advanced expertise in the technological and legal aspects of data protection and privacy law. The internship will allow the successful candidate to benefit both from the academic training offered by DCU’s faculties and staff as well as practical experience in designing and implementing data protection compliance systems under GDPR and Irish legislation.

Trilateral Research has a growing data protection team providing compliance support and data protection officer services for Irish, UK and EU clients in the public and private sector. We are offering the chance to learn our approach to consultancy, supporting clients by working closely with our advisors in the provision of a range of data protection services. Both physical location in the Waterford office and remote working options are possible, although this would be agreed with the successful candidate on a case-by-case basis.

Once appointed, the successful candidate will receive a bursary of €4,500 (paid in incremental monthly instalments over the seven months) as well as the payment of fees (€3,600) to cover the first year on the part-time MA. They will be asked to work 15 hours each week with the Trilateral Team in addition to attending DCU for lectures and course related events.

The ideal candidate will have a good academic background in a relevant discipline, be acceptable to DCU for admission to the Level 9 programme, and can demonstrate experience, or at least a keen interest, in the developing fields of compliance and data protection. Applications are welcome from those who have already applied for the MA in DCU or have yet to do so.

Applications, including a current CV and 3-page personal statement, must be submitted to info@trilateralresearch.com with the subject “DCU Internship application”. The deadline for applications is 12:00 on September 1st 2019 and interviews are expected to be held on September 6th 2019 in Dublin. Personal statements should include the following:

•   Why you wish to work in the field of data protection

•   What, in your record and experience, makes you suitable for the MA programme
