Dr. Jules Gaspard was recently appointed Lecturer of International Security and Intelligence in the School of Law and Government where he teaches courses on International Relations, Security, American Politics and Intelligence Analysis. His research focuses on the establishment and growth of secret security state apparatus, the evolution of the methods and means of intelligence collection and the consequences of the state permeating into everyday life.
Before joining DCU he was a Teaching Fellow in Intelligence and International Security at the University of Warwick. In 2016, he completed his PhD on a Chancellor’s Scholarship at Warwick— a re-examination of the origins of US counter-espionage. Before his PhD, he completed a Masters in War Studies at King’s College London and a Masters in Intelligence and International Security at Brunel University London. He has recently published articles on the essence of intelligence in The International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence and has published in History on the methodology of intelligence studies and its origins.
