DCU Library's Leaving Certificate Study Scheme
DCU Library's Leaving Certificate Study scheme is open to sixth year Leaving Certificate students. It allows students to study in the O'Reilly Library on DCU's Glasnevin campus and Cregan Library on DCU's St Patrick's campus, Drumcondra.
The scheme is free of charge and runs from Monday 11th May to Tuesday 23rd June 2026. The application system will close at 5pm on Friday 29th May.
To apply:
- Only apply if you are a sixth year student sitting the 2026 Leaving Certificate Exams
- Read the library access card and library regulations below and complete this online application form
- You will receive a confirmation email when you successfully submit your application
- You will receive a second email when your application has been approved, which will contain information about when and where to collect your library access card
- All students are required to print and fill in this verification form, to be stamped by their school or centre of education
- A library access card can only be issued to students who present the completed and stamped verification form
- Students who are under 18 years of age are required to print this consent form and return it complete with a signature from a parent or guardian when collecting their library card
Library Access Card
- Do not collect your card until you receive an email with collection instructions from DCU Library
- You must collect your library card from the library you nominated in your application
- You can use your library card in both libraries for the duration of the study scheme
- You cannot access the library without your card
- Card collection is available during library service hours only: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
- We will issue only one library card per student - lost cards will not be replaced
- Your details will be linked to your card for the duration of the scheme
- If you permit others to use your library card, your access to the library will be removed
- If requested by DCU Library staff, you must present them with your library card
- Return the card to library staff at the ground floor help desk at the end of the scheme
- Students who return their library card will be entered into raffle to win a €25 One4All gift card. The winner will be notified at the end of June.
Library regulations
If you fail to follow library regulations we may withdraw your access to the library:
- The scheme is strictly available to sixth year secondary school students only
- Do not share your library card with another student
- Set your mobile phone to silent mode in the Library
- Behave in an appropriate manner in the Library
- Be respectful to DCU Library staff at all times
- Keep noise to a minimum throughout the Library
- Do not cause any disturbance that is likely to distract or inconvenience others
- Do not eat food in the Library
- You can bring water in non-spill bottles into the Library
- Do not leave items unattended in the library as library staff cannot guarantee their safety
- Printing, photocopying, borrowing and access to PCs and laptops is not available
- Do not damage, deface, remove, conceal or otherwise interfere with Library stock, equipment and fittings
- Smoking and vaping is strictly forbidden in the Library
- Do not use rooms that have been reserved for DCU students
