To see if we have access to a specific journal, you can look up the title using the Journal Finder (Library Search). If we have the title, you will be able to link to it online or, in the case of print journals, you will see where it is shelved in the library.
When you have a reference to a specific journal article that you would like to read, enter the article title into Library Search.
Databases allow us to search the content of thousands of journal articles by keyword, as well as provide us with access to the full text of many of them. Some databases are multi-disciplinary whilst others are discipline-specific. Choose a database to search from the A-Z of Library Databases list or consult your relevant subject guide for recommended subject databases.
DCU students and staff can access these resources at any time and from anywhere.
Registered DCU staff and students can access all our databases, ejournals and ebooks, and other online resources at any time and from anywhere.
For the quickest access, always start your search from the Library Search. Then, simply click on the database, e-journal, or ebook you wish to consult.
You will be prompted to sign-in using your DCU username and password.
Some resources will require you to select your institution at the outset, while others may require a personal account to be created for the individual resource. On all occasions, you will be prompted when accessing the resource.

These electronic resources subscribed to by DCU Library may be used within the DCU network, or off-campus by DCU registered staff and students only.
Use of these resources is for the purpose of non-commercial DCU-related teaching, learning, research and administration work only. It is not permitted to facilitate database access to any other person(s) for any other purpose. Such use will breach licence terms and may leave the parties concerned, and/or users as defined above who facilitate such third party use, open to legal sanction.
Systematic downloading or retention of information from databases using robots, spiders or manual means is not permitted.
Where publishers suspect misuse in the form of systematic downloading they will cut off access to resources for the whole DCU community, thus depriving responsible users of access to material for their research and learning.
DCU Library provides access to Research Masters and PhD theses, taught postgraduate dissertations, and selected undergraduate dissertations. Many items are available online, and all can be found using Library Search.
The Library receives print and electronic copies of all DCU Research Masters and PhD theses.
Theses from 1985 are available in full online via DORAS, DCU's Research Repository.
Selected print dissertations are listed in Library Search.
Note: Each School decides whether dissertations are submitted to the Library.
O'Reilly Library
Print dissertations are shelved alphabetically by author surname and are for library consultation only.
A limited selection of taught postgraduate dissertations (2018–2020) are available online as ebooks.
Dissertation Abstracts is the largest single source of information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses available.
There are two separate databases available:
ProQuest Dissertations and Theses is the most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses from around the world, spanning from 1743 to the present day
Dissertations and Theses @ Dublin City University produced by students at Dublin City University. Links to full-text where this is available on local repositories.
WorldCat searches the catalogues of more than 10,000 libraries worldwide. To search for theses only go to Advanced Search and select Thesis/Dissertations from the Format drop-down box.
Try doing a Google search if you are looking for a specific thesis or dissertation.
DCU Library offers a mix of national and international newspapers in both print and online formats. You can browse selected print titles in Cregan and O'Reilly Libraries, with many more available digitally through our subscription databases. We also provide access to historical newspaper archives.

The Archives and Special Collections department provides access to unique research materials held by DCU Library. Items can be consulted in the Reading Room on the Lower Ground Floor of the O’Reilly Library.
