Library Membership and Access

When visiting any library site please make sure you have a valid student ID card for entry/exit.

Forgotten or lost cards: Should you lose or forget your student ID card, library staff can issue you a temporary 'Daily Access Card' which will allow you to enter/exit library buildings until the library closes on day of issue. 

Daily Access Cards: Please note, you are only permitted three Daily Access Cards per academic year. After you have been issued a third Daily Access Card, you will not be able to access the library unless you have your student card. 

Lost Student ID cards: Lost student ID cards can be replaced via Registry.

Study-only hours: Daily Access Cards can only be issued by library staff. During 'study only' hours, you must have your student ID card to enter and exit library buildings. Access during study only hours cannot be granted without a valid student ID card.

DCU Staff

All current DCU staff have full membership of DCU Library, including access to all library sites, print collections and online resources.

It is not necessary to register separately with the library.

Staff should use their DCU staff ID card to gain entry to O'Reilly Library (Glasnevin Campus), Cregan Library (St Patrick's Campus) or Woodlock Hall Library (All Hallows Campus)

Affiliated DCU Staff and Visiting Researchers

Where necessary, Library access for visiting staff, researchers and campus contractors can be arranged.

Library Visitor Membership includes multi-site access, print collection access and DCU guest wifi.

Longer-term researchers/ faculty visitors should, in the first instance, discuss library access needs with their affiliated school.

Access to library online resources or IT facilities (including printing or photocopying) is not available to library visitors. If such access is required by visiting researchers, please contact your affiliated school or  faculty.

DCU Retired Staff

Retired staff must register with the library to maintain library membership entitlements

Retirees are welcome to apply for lifetime membership of DCU Library.

They can apply by completing  the online Retired Staff Application form to register with the library.

Membership of the library will apply to all three Library spaces and includes:

• Borrowing rights for up to 20 books from the library’s print collections
• Access to individual study spaces
• Library Help Desk assistance
• Access to the DCU Guest WiFi network
• Access to the Library Link study scheme

Please note the following: 

A new catalogue username and password will be supplied to help track loan dates, renewals, and requests.

IT facilities (PC/laptop loan, printing, photocopying etc) are not available 
 

Library Guest Connect Service

DCU Library is pleased to offer walk-in access for eligible DCU users to a select range of online resources, free of charge and subject to availability and licensing restrictions. 

Access is available via a dedicated PC located on the ground floor of the O’Reilly Library.

To access this PC, visit the O'Reilly Library Help Desk to complete a consent form and obtain login credentials. 

This service is available during Help Desk service hours only. During term time, extended access is offered, including late evenings (until 8pm) and Saturdays.

The service will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. No booking required.
