Return Your Library Books

DCU Library encourages everyone to return their library material before they leave for the Summer Semester.
If you have overdue material, have recently finished exams, or are a staff member with a contract ending soon, you can drop your library books back to any of our 3 locations. See below for all the ways you can return material.

DCU Library is Fine Free Forever!

Returning your library material has never been easier...and it won't cost you a cent! DCU Library is commited to being Fine Free Forever, meaning you won't be charged when returning overdue material, no matter how long you've had them borrowed. 

 Note: Patrons will still be responsible for paying the replacement cost of any lost library item. Please contact issuedesk@dcu.ie to report a missing library book on your account

 

How to return Library material

Self Service Machines

Simply return books at the Self Service Machines found in all three library sites. Ask staff on duty for help if required. Always print/email a receipt as confirmation of the return.

Issue Desk

Returns can be made on site to library staff at the Issue Desk during opening hours in all our sites.

Out-of-hours Return Facility

When the library is closed, you can return loans to our Return Facility located in O’Reilly Library. This facility can receive material from any DCU Library quickly and conveniently when the library buildings are closed

Not able to make it to campus to return your books? Please return any loan(s) via registered post to its home library.

Note: Patrons are deemed responsible for library items until received back by library staff and removed from the patrons account:
