18th International Symposium on Translational Research in Oncology

More than 35 internationally renowned speakers gathered at the Herbert Park Hotel in Dublin from September 24-26, 2025, for the 18th International Symposium on Translational Research in Oncology, organised by the Cancer Clinical Research Trust and DCU.

DCU researcher Denis Collins appeared alongside a wide range of international experts in the area from UCLA and Harvard Medical School, as DCU Chair of Translational Oncology Prof John Crown opened proceedings. 

The symposium featured a presentations from Dr. Dennis J. Slamon, the 2019 Lasker Award winner and Director of Clinical/Translational Research at UCLA, and Dr. Douglas Hanahan, the 2025 winner of the Pezcoller Foundation–AACR International Award for Extraordinary Achievement in Cancer Research.

The three-day program covered cutting-edge topics including novel target identification in oncology, KRAS targeting in pancreaticobiliary cancers, neoadjuvant immunotherapy for lung cancer and mesothelioma, and the development of next-generation therapies such as PROTACs and CDK-4 inhibitors CCRT.

The symposium underscored Ireland's growing role as a hub for international cancer research collaboration and translational oncology advancements.
