About Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana

The Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana (Order of Merit of the Italian Republic) is the highest ranking Italian order of merit. Established in 1951, the award recognises individuals with achievements in the fields of science, literature, arts, economy, public service, and social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities.

Speaking about her award, Professor Giordani said:

“Above all, I would like to dedicate this honour to my parents, whose encouragement, values, and support have guided me throughout my life , and to my late brother, Davide, whose belief in me, wisdom and kindness remain with me every day.”

Professor Daire Keogh, President of Dublin City University, said:

“On behalf of all of her colleagues in DCU, I want to congratulate Professor Giordani on receiving this great honour from her homeland. The award speaks to the consistent excellence and impact of her research and her significant contribution in the field of nanomaterials.”
