Innovation Partnership Project between DCU and ECOVolve Creates Prototype High Tip 1 Tone Electric Dumper

This vehicle for the construction industry was conceived by Sean Breen who looked to Enterprise Ireland for support. The novelty of the concept, a three-wheeled electric vehicle with the capability for operation exceeding current diesel powered units, opens up the possibility of new markets. Such a vehicle designed, developed and manufactured in Ireland will establish the country as a leading provider of such solutions to the world market, and Sean has founded a spin-out company ECOVolve to exploit this opportunity.

The completion of the prototype for display at the largest construction machinery fair in Europe (BAUMA 2013) came down to the partnership between the company, the university and the funding agency. This was the only fully electric vehicle in its class at the show, and attracted a lot of interest. ECOVolve now plan to build 10 units for sale this year and to develop companion vehicles to expand the market.
