Academic biography

Dr Majid Akbarzadeh Khorshidi joined Dublin City University (DCU) in January 2026 as an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and was previously a Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), where he worked on computational and experimental biomechanics, collaborating with Boston Scientific (Clonmel) on the development of urological implantable devices.

Research interests

His research focuses on the biomechanics of biological tissues and the mechanics of materials, with particular emphasis on constitutive modelling, continuum mechanics, and finite element simulation of biological systems. His work integrates experimental characterisation, computational modelling, and translational applications, aiming to support the design and optimisation of implantable medical devices and to advance the understanding of tissue mechanics.
