NCPST 5th Radio Frequency Discharges Workshop 2015

The Workshop on Radio Frequency Discharges will take place on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd June 2015 at Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland. This workshop continues the series of Radio Frequency Discharge Workshops. The workshop is in its 5th year. Radio-frequency discharges are an outstandingly important category of plasma device, because of their widespread use in economically important applications such as manufacturing, light sources, etc. The existence of these applications has motivated many years of intensive research into the mechanisms of operation of these discharges, including topics such as optical characteristics, heating mechanisms, stability, modes of operation, electrical properties, diagnostics, modeling, etc. In spite of this activity, including much work of outstanding scientific quality, many important problems remain. The aim of this workshop is to take stock of recent work on radio-frequency discharges, to review important outstanding problems, and to identify key issues for future research, taking into account the demands of present and future applications. The meeting will be inter-disciplinary and will bring together industrial and academic researchers and practitioners. The topics to be discussed will include capacitive, inductive and wave excited discharges, with special emphasis on the most recent developments in these areas, including the introduction of radio frequency discharges at atmospheric pressure for biomedical applications. The Workshop is made up of 5 oral sessions and 1 poster session. We believe that the scientific topics that underline RF Workshop will grow rapidly in the near future. The RF Workshop series will become embedded in the calendars of the top-tier scientists and hence we expect it will evolve as a very prestigious Workshop. The workshop is being organised by the National Centre for Plasma Science & Technology ( and STEP Research Administration Unit (
