SmartOcean Forum 2013

5th, 6th November 2013 – Titanic Belfast

SmartOcean is an initiative, led by the Marine Institute, aimed at establishing the island of Ireland as a leader in the development, test and translation of specialist ICT products for global marine sectors.  The annual SmartOcean Forum will, this year, take place at Titanic Belfast on November 5th and 6th.  The purpose of this all-island event is to highlight the potential of our ocean resource to support shared opportunities in delivering hi-tech products and services to global marine markets.

The forum will focus on key areas such as blue growth, marine data and knowledge, renewable energy, and ocean observation.  It will feature speakers from industry, academia & state agencies from Ireland, the US, Canada and Europe, reflecting recent developments such as the Galway Statement on Atlantic Ocean Cooperation, the launch of the EU’s Atlantic Strategy Action plan and also the upcoming launch of the EU Horizon 2020 Programme in 2014.
