DCU Innovation Campus to host The Beefhack, Irelands first food hackathon

Calling all makers, entrepreneurs, designers, engineers, creators, innovators, developers and farmers from across the globe to join us for a weekend dedicated to developing ideas and solving real food industry problems in conjunction with ABP Food Group, the DCU Innovation Campus, Intel and other industry and technology partners.

With a prize fund of over €22,500 participants are tasked with using technology to solve the biggest challenges facing Ireland's food industry. Everything from farm safety to sustainability, waste management to traceability, animal welfare to packaging - these are the challenges facing the industry and we want to facilitate the rapid creation of innovative solutions that address some of the challenges encountered by the industry.

With a first prize of €10,000 the hackathon is a collaborative, brainstorming, designing and prototyping event where participants will receive mentoring and pitch training as well as having the chance to work with a bunch of smart people. Entrance tickets cost €20 with all tickets prices going towards the running of the weekend. All food/beverages including breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price.

The event takes place in the DCU Innovation Campus, Old Finglas Road, Glasnevin on Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd March. For more information visit www.beefhackathon.com
