VIP Fresher Award Winner 2015

A Mayo student is settling in to life in Dublin City University having been named DCU’s VIP Fresher for 2015/ 2016. Cian Ruane, who has started his first year on the BSc Computational Problem Solving and Software Development programme, is enjoying his VIP Fresher experience.

Valued at €10,000, the prize includes free accommodation for a full academic year, gym membership, parking, tickets to all DCU Students’ Unions events, Domino’s pizza, free food at DCU Spar and campus restaurants, hairdressing and a VIP Helix package.

Cian, a former student of St. Gerald’s College in Castlebar, clinched the prize by entering the most original and creative video showing why he deserved to become this year’s VIP Fresher.

Speaking about his win, Cian said,

“Winning the VIP Fresher competition has been such a help in settling in to DCU life. I didn’t know anyone else before coming to study here but living on campus and attending the SU events has really helped to meet new people. I couldn’t have asked for a better prize and would encourage anyone thinking of coming to DCU next year to apply.”

All students applying to CAO can enter to win the VIP Fresher package. The prize is awarded to the student with the most original entry, who has chosen a DCU course as one of their CAO choices, met the minimum entry requirements and is awarded a place.
