Disability and Bullying Seminar
To mark International Day of People with Disabilities on Thursday 3rd December, the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre at Dublin City University has organised a seminar to tackle the issue of bullying of people with disabilities.
The seminar is aimed at the general public, people with disabilities and those in supportive roles and aims to provide a platform for speakers to share their experiences, explore strategies on how to tackle bullying behaviours and create and awareness of the critical issues.
Key speakers and topics will include:
- Shelagh Leech, mum-of-two, who will speak about her daughter’s experience of cyberbullying from a parent’s perspective
- Dr Jennifer Schweppe, lecturer in the School of Law, University of Limerick - Disability hate crime and human rights
- Martha Evans, programme leader, Anti-Bullying Alliance, London – Special Educational Needs and Bullying
- Jim Winters – advocacy officer, Inclusion Ireland - Conditions that contribute hate incidents and bullying
- Siobhan O'Donerty, researcher - Bullying and People with Intellectual Disabilities in Ireland
