DCU ranked in top 200 globally-engaged universities

DCU has today been ranked 138th in a league table of the most globally-engaged universities in the world.  This comprehensive league table compiled by Times Higher Education Rankings measures the diversity of a university’s student body and the extent to which its academics collaborate with international colleagues.

Professor Brian MacCraith, President of DCU, said,

“The inclusion of all seven Irish universities in the top 150 of today’s THE league table reflects Ireland’s reputation for punching well above its weight in the international forum.  For DCU, this is a welcome endorsement of our commitment to engaging with the world outside our campuses.  We are very proud of our diverse, multi-ethnic community with almost 2,000 students from 114 countries enrolled on our programmes, with curricula which reflect the globalised world for which we must prepare our students.  Likewise, our academic collaborations operate across geographical and cultural boundaries to address shared global challenges such as healthcare, water scarcity, sustainable development and conflict resolution.”

Phil Baty, Editor of the THE Rankings said,

“An institution’s global outlook is one of the key markers of a prestigious university. The top institutions hire faculty from all over the world, attract students from a global market of top talent and collaborate with leading departments wherever they happen to be based.  It is great news for all the institutions in the list of the most international universities in the world. It is a sign of great potential, competitiveness and dynamism.”
