Over 300 secondary students recognised at DCU’s Achievement Awards 2016

Over 300 students from 18 North Dublin schools were recognised at Dublin City University’s Achievement Awards this week.

Organised by DCU’s Access Service, the annual awards celebrate the achievements of third year students in link schools for their various accomplishments in the following areas: academic; sport; arts & culture, community spirit and exceptional nomination.

Launched in 1997, the programme is designed to reward and encourage excellence in both the academic and extra-curricular aspects of a student’s school life. It aims to motivate students, raise aspirations and ultimately encourage young people to remain at school and consider third-level education as a viable option for them.

Susan Hawkins, Access Outreach Project Officer at Dublin City University, commented:

“This is a hugely important event for us as it gives us an opportunity to welcome students, parents and teachers from the local community to Dublin City University and celebrate the work they have been doing in various areas. This was our 18th year running the programme and we were delighted to honour students from 18 North Dublin schools.”
