International Entrepreneurship Award for DCU lecturer

A DCU lecturer has been given an international award for his innovative approach to teaching entrepreneurship.

Dr. Eric Clinton, who lectures in Entrepreneurship, was awarded the Teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence Award in Jyväskylä, Finland. These international awards were hosted at the European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

He is teaching a “New Enterprise Development” module. The DCU Business School created the module to combine practical experience, insight from industry experts and academic theory. Clinton, who is also the Director of the DCU Centre for Family Business, refers to it as “pracademic teaching”.

Throughout their final year, the students work on a new product or service, consulting with stakeholders, market their finished idea and pitch to business professionals.

A Youtube video explaining the module and the work that students do throughout the year is available online here.
