Congratulations to Elizabeth Morland, a student of Education and Training at DCU Institute of Education, who smashed the Irish Junior heptathlon record in Arona, Tenerife over the weekend finishing 2nd in the senior women’s international event with 5669 points.

This performance ranks Elizabeth in the top 10 Juniors in Europe at present – and augurs well for the European championships later in the summer.

Elizabeth's performances over the two days of competition were as follows: 100mH 14.01; High Jump 1.76; Shot Putt 10.78; 200m 25.13; Long Jump 5.87m; Javelin 41.98m and 800m 2.22.30 giving a total of 5,669 points.

The past number of weeks has seen great performances from other DCU athletes at various international competitions with Kevin Kelly, finishing 3rd in the Men's 1500m with 3.44.21 at the Loughborough International, Brandon Arrey with 47.35 for 400m in Oordegem (European U23 qualifying) and Emily Rogers with a winning 1.78m in Oordegem.

Congratulations also to Liz Carr on finishing 7th overall in the ladies mini-marathon on Monday (June 5th) in a new 10K personal best.
