Lead Animator at Pixomondo for Game of Thrones comes to Talent Garden Dublin
The global phenomenon that is Game of Thrones has come to an end, and with a record viewership of over 17M people, it has captured the imagination of millions of people across the world.
Talent Garden Dublin is giving members of the public a chance to get closer to the creative production process and learn how the Game of Thrones dragons were brought to life by hosting a free workshop entitled ‘Creating the Dragons of Game of Thrones’.
Attendees will get the inside scoop from multi-award winner and Lead Animator at Pixomondo for Game of Thrones, Jonathan Symmonds, and explore the process of creating multi-layered interactive models and delve into details on shading, anatomy and reactive light effects.
Taking place at 6.30pm on June 20th, Jonathan will share his secrets into the production, creation and animation of the dragons of Game of Thrones - a GoT fanatic’s heaven!
In addition, Jonathan will be joining Talent Garden Innovation School faculty on June 20th and 21st, to host a Data Visualisation Masterclass alongside Dr. Finn Macleod, Founder of Beautiful Data and DistilX.com.

With over 18 years of experience in the film and games industry, Jonathan has worked on James Cameron’s Avatar, Trollhunter, Where the Wild Things Are, Prince of Persia, Dark Tide and more.
More recently, Jonathan lead the animation departments for season 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Game of Thrones at Pixomondo in Germany. Jonathan has also been nominated three times for a VES Award.
Dr. Finn Macleod, Founder of Beautiful Data and DistilX.com Dr. Finn Macleod is a former Mathematician with a PhD in predictive complexity.
He has built, sold and designed dashboards for clients such as Thomson-Reuters, Formula 1 (via Meshh) and Heineken. Finn and Edward Kibardin (the ex-chief Data Scientist of Badoo) partner on the project DataRefiner, a hybrid tool that uses deep learning and TDA (topological data analysis) to understand and segment complex data sets.
Finn has also been known to do improv theatre in his spare time.
