Appeal of Results
There are a number of options available to students whose examination results does not meet their expectations:
- Consultation: Students may view their script/assessment and discuss their performance with the module co-ordinator/lecturer during the University’s published consultation days.
- Examination Appeal: Students have the right to appeal the decisions of a Progression and Award Board.
- Module Assessment Review: Students may apply in certain circumstances to have a section of their assessment reviewed by an independent assessor.
- Module Re-Check: Students may apply in certain circumstances to have the recording and collation of marks which determined a module result rechecked.
Before lodging an examination appeal, applying for an assessment review and / or applying for a module re-check students should read the relevant procedural information carefully.

Examination results for Semester I and Semester II Resits
The appeals window opens on 25 August 2026. The final date to submit an Examination Appeal (R31), Module Re-check (R50), and Module Assessment Review (R51) for resit examinations for Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2026 is 4 September 2026 at 17:00 hours. The submission portal will close at 17:00 hours. Late submissions will not be accepted.
The Decision-Making and Notification Process
The Examination Appeals Board will meet on 18 September 2026. The decision of the Examination Appeals Board and the outcome of Module Re-checks will be forwarded by email to your DCU email account within three weeks of the meeting taking place.
The outcome of Module Assessment Reviews will be forwarded by email to your DCU email account within 2 - 6 weeks. Please note that if we experience a high volume of Appeals/Module Re-checks/Module Assessment Reviews, the outcome of your submission may be delayed.
