Dr Ciarán Dunne

Dr Ciarán Dunne is the first Transversal Skills Director for DCU, a unique role in higher education both nationally and internationally, focused on designing strategies that develop, apply, assess and evidence students’ key transversal skills in a rigorous, robust and innovative manner. Given his expertise in transversal skills, Ciarán is a member of Ireland's National Skills Council, whose function is to advise the Irish government on national skill policy.

Prior to taking on this role and following on from his experience working in both the public and private sector, Ciarán was Associate Professor in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in DCU, lecturing across multiple disciplines, including Sociology, Social Entrepreneurship, Creative Thinking, Futures Literacy, Intercultural Studies, and Spanish Language. `
