The Spark
The Spark is DCU's new active learning space located in Albert College on the Glasnevin campus. Co-funded by DCU Futures, the facility has been designed to support active and engaged pedagogies such as challenge-based learning and hackathons.
The Sparks' three technology-enabled rooms (AG41, AG42, and AG49) can operate independently or be integrated through advanced audio-visual technology. This flexible configuration supports simultaneous delivery to larger cohorts, breakout group work, and student presentations, with integrated screens and cameras allowing seamless content sharing across spaces. Each room is also equipped with two microphones and integrated speakers. AG49 also functions as a dedicated VR suite equipped with 15 VR kits.
To book The Spark, contact thespark@dcu.ie. You will receive an email requesting details including group size, module/programme information, and preferred room configuration. Priority is given to teaching activities, particularly those employing active and engaged learning pedagogies.
