Autism Awareness Training for All Staff [St. Pat's Campus]
Course Code: DCU033
As part of DCU's Autism Friendly University Project, training is available to all DCU staff to
help them better understand the experiences of autistic students and colleagues.
Aims:
This workshop will be delivered by a mixed neuro-type team, combining practical guidance
with lived experience. Through an interactive element and real-world examples, participants
will gain insight into how autistic people navigate social, academic and sensory
environments within third-level education.
Content:
- The Lived Experience of a Neurodivergent Student and member of staff
- Different ways of processing the sensory environment and its impact
- Different Communication Styles and the Impact
- Supports and Resources available at DCU

What you will gain:
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the different ways of thinking,
processing, communicating, and regulating - along with practical approaches to create a
more inclusive environment for all.
