Interactive Anti-Racism Workshop [In Person]

This workshop explores anti-racism by centring the deeply human needs of belonging and inclusion, inviting participants to build empathy through storytelling and reflective dialogue.

In a brave and thoughtfully facilitated space, participants will engage in honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversations, examine their own identities and biases, and consider how racism shapes both interpersonal relationships and broader societal systems. 

Using practical scenarios rooted in the DCU environment, staff will explore real-world campus dynamics and test active allyship strategies.

Together, we will move from reflection to action, strengthening our shared commitment to cultivating a more equitable and inclusive university community.

• Examine Personal Identity and Bias: Reflect on individual social locations, personal identities and implicit biases to understand how they influence daily interactions and decision-making within the university environment.
• Deconstruct Structural and Interpersonal Racism: Analyse how systemic and interpersonal racism manifest within higher education, shifting perspective from individual intent to broader institutional impact.
• Build Empathy Through Active Listening: Engage in reflective dialogue and shared storytelling in a courageous space to deepen understanding of diverse lived experiences across the campus community.
• Translate Reflection into Sustained Action: Develop practical personal and professional strategies to proactively challenge racism, foster belonging and contribute to an equitable DCU culture.
