Enhancing Performance 2015/16 - PhD pipeline in Physics

The School of Physical Sciences received funding from Research and Innovation Support (RIS) under the Enhancing Performance 2015/16 call for an initiative called “PhD pipeline in Physics”, which allowed us to offer research internships for 12 weeks, ultimately focused on increasing postgraduate student numbers in the School by nurturing top second year undergraduates through a research internship programme. The School and students are very grateful to RIS for this support. 5 students were funded under this mechanism, as detailed below:

The students all successfully completed their internships in early September and took part in a closing event today whereby they each gave a talk on the research work they undertook and their experiences. This was followed by a small presentation of a certificate to each student by the Head of School.
