Quality Promotion Office - Joint IUQB/HEA Quality Review of Universities in Ireland

Joint IUQB/HEA quality review of Universities in Ireland

The first external review of Quality Assurance Procedures in Irish Universities was conducted in 2004; the resulting reports were published in 2005.

The review was jointly commissioned by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the Irish Universities Quality Board (IUQB)

The combined review arrangement allowed the university sector and its stakeholders to gain maximum benefit from comprehensive evaluations by international experts under the auspices of the European University Association (EUA), complemented by a high-level reference panel established by the HEA, which was representative of stakeholders external to the universities. The overall objective was to review quality assurance procedures and practices in place in Irish universities, and their effectiveness.
