Will the Covid-19 outbreak affect my application to DCU?

New applications for study at DCU are being managed in the usual way. We are monitoring the situation closely and will update these FAQs as more information becomes available.

Do I have to attend campus for my assessment/interview?

For programmes where an assessment or interview applies, temporary arrangements have been put in place to facilitate remote assessments/interviews for the majority of programmes. All relevant applicants have been contacted by email in relation to assessments/interviews. This remote arrangement will be kept under review.

I cannot obtain application information requested by DCU, what shall I do?

We are aware that delays may be unavoidable for you in providing the information needed to support your application. If you need extra time to gather the requested information, please email registry@dcu.ie and our admissions team will let you know if it is possible to allow some flexibility for submission of the additional information. Unfortunately, this may not be possible for all programmes.

International (Non-EU) Postgraduate Taught incoming students should consult the International Office. Further information is available here.

I am unable to take my English language test because the IELTS test centres are closed, how will this affect me?

The university accepts several English language tests.  As a temporary measure for 2020 ONLY (response to Covid 19), DCU has approved the use of the Duolingo English Test (DET) for some programmes, as a temporary measure from 1st April to 31st July 2020. Further information can be found here.

What should I do if I am temporarily not in a position to accept my place on a postgraduate programme and/or pay the PAC deposit?

Please make contact with the postgraduate admissions team in registry by email on registry@dcu.ie. They will liaise with the Faculty to see if it is possible to arrange an extension to the acceptance and/or PAC deposit payment date. Unfortunately, this may not be possible for all programmes.

If I am unable to take up my place for any reason, is it possible to defer my place until next year?

Please contact the postgraduate admissions team by email on registry@dcu.ie for further information about the deferral process. It may not be possible to accommodate all deferral requests.

International Non-EU Postgraduate Taught Students: For further information about requesting a deferral, please email international.office@dcu.ie.
