Sustainable Economies and Societies
The Sustainable Economies and Societies priority area pulls together expertise from all of DCU’s academic faculties for research and innovation that supports sustainable development in both industry and the environment.
The current focus is on: advanced manufacturing and materials, energy systems and the environment, water technologies. DCU research aims to discover new science and technologies that meet the needs of the present without compromising the environment of future generations. Our discoveries help companies to design sustainable products and services, miniaturise components, source renewable materials, integrate ICT, and reduce the cost of production and transport. Our environmental research focuses on developing systems to monitor and manage water resources and on developing advanced science and technologies to improve the harnessing of new sources of energy.
