DCU Hosts International Research Collaboration Forum

The three day event saw external invitees hosted at the O’Reilly Library for three days of presentations, discussion and tours of key facilities.

The International Research Collaboration forum event was organised by Research Support and Development and designed to establish and drive effective relationships with international research partners.

Beginning on Tuesday, the event opened with a welcome and introductions from Erasmus + Development Officer Sophie Ball and Director of Research Support Fiona Brennan. The first day saw presentations on Engaged Research, Open Research and Research Integrity from members of DCU faculty and professional support.

A number of invitees gave presentations with ECIU European Funding Advisor Laura Pasternoster updating on research activities within ECIU, Research Unit Director from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona presenting a service charter for an International Projects Office, and Dr Begoña Miñarro also from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona speaking about strengthening research in European health innovation. The first day concluded with a poster session and refreshments.

The second day included two panel sessions featuring a combination of DCU and external contributors. The first covered Interdisciplinarity in Research followed by a session on Experiences, Opportunities and Concerns in Research. Dr Michael Papapetrou, Executive Director at ERINN Innovation; Kevin Burke, National Director of Horizon Europe at Enterprise Ireland; Dr Sebastian Husein, Impact Development Manager, Battery Centre Twente; and Prof Hervé Folliot, Dean of Research at the National Institutes of Science and Technology (INSA), Rennes all featured in panels across the first two days.

A wide range of the university’s research centres participated in the event including Biodesign Europe, DCU APT, DCU Anti-Bullying Centre, DCU Anti-Corruption Research Centre, DCU CARPE, DCU EQI, DCU Centre for Inclusive Pedagogy, DCU Centre for Possibility Studies, DCU CASTEL, DCU Conflict Institute, DCU Early Childhood Research Centre, DCU European Law Institute, DCU Institute for Business & Society, DCU Institute for Climate and Society, DCU FuJO, DCU Ireland India Institute, DCU Life Sciences Institute, DCU DESI, DCU SEALBHÚ, DCU Water Institute, and INSIGHT.

The event concluded yesterday with tours of the university’s Nano Research Facility and other key facilities.
