Innovation 2020

Innovation 2020, Ireland’s strategy for research and development, science and technology,  was launched yesterday at the Innovation Showcase 2015.

The strategy sets out ambitious targets of performance in research and innovation but it also outlines a strong commitment for investment over the next five years with a particular focus on enterprise engagement and also on talent and human capital. It outlines a commitment to the development of post-graduate and post-doctoral researcher careers, to invest in research infrastructure and in frontiers research in all disciplines among many other things. These are welcomed news, and DCU is strongly positioned to compete for this funding as it becomes available.

I would like to re-iterate the message that Brian outlined in our December newsletter  and encourage everyone to make use of the various supports available to obtain funding for research funding, to manage the funding once it's obtained and to engage with enterprise: The research support office, Invent, the team at the Research and Enterprise Hubs and the STEP, SIP and BIP platforms are there to support you in your research and innovation endeavors.

You can download the government strategy as well as the summary booklets from the research support website from the useful policy documents page here.
