Biography

Dr. Veronica Corcodel joined the School of Law and Government in September 2019. She holds a PhD from Sciences Po Law School (2015). She is the author of a recently published monograph Modern Law and Otherness: The Dynamics of Inclusion and Exclusion in Comparative Legal Thought (Edward Elgar, 2019). Her areas of interest include migration,  European law, critical legal theory and socio-legal studies, comparative law. Veronica was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute and a Visiting Scholar at Cornell Law School, the University of Turin and the University of Piemonte Orientale. 

In addition, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the FOLIE (Forms of Life and Legal Integration in Europe) project at Sciences Po Law School. Her research has explored the relationship between law and migrant forms of life, focusing in particular on the context of the Calais camp. Her work was conducted in collaboration with the Migration Clinic of Sciences Po Law School, which she co-coordinated. She is currently working on immigrant detention and the Hotspot approach, seeking to further explore the implications of European law's construction of migrant spaces from a critical perspective.
