Maria Falina

Maria Falina is a historian of modern and contemporary Europe. She specializes in Eastern Europe, intellectual history, nationalism, and history of religion and politics. She holds a PhD in Comparative History of Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe from the Central European University, Budapest (2011). Before coming to DCU, she has held guest lectureships and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Moscow State University, Central European University and UCD. 

Dr Falina co-authored the first synthetic overview of the history of modern political thought in East Central Europe published by OUP in 2016. She is currently working on a comparative history of religious communities and conflict in Yugoslavia in the first half of the 20th century.
