Researching Innovative Engineering Technologies
RINCE (rin-keh) is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at Dublin City University.
RINCE’s focus is on innovation in engineering technologies. The aim of the research is the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for the Global Information Society.
Rince builds upon the successes that have been achieved since its establishment by supporting and developing key strongly focused research areas, while also providing an environment where new research groups can reach their full potential.
The Institute’s current research programme is performed across the following research Centres:
- The Centre for Image Processing & Analysis (CIPA)
- The Centre for High Speed Devices & Systems (HSDS)
- Network Innovations Centre(NIC)
- Energy and Design Lab
The Centres facilitate collaborative research performed within DCU, and both nationally and internationally.
In addition, Rince supports the following developing research specialisms:
Since its foundation in 1999, the Institute has been successful in attracting significant national and international funding. In addition to support from Industry, Rince has obtained funding from Enterprise Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland, Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology (IRCSET), EU Framework Programmes, Higher Education Authority PRTLI, the Health Research Board, and most recently, Horizon 2020.
